Spring has sprung at Tiptoes with children across all of our nurseries enjoyed a jam-packed March.
Not only have we been celebrating the changing of the season, Mothers’ Day and National Book Week, we’ve also raised hundreds of pounds for charity by participating in Sports Relief.
Children at all the nurseries got involved with Sports Relief by dressing up in sportswear and dancewear, having bake sales and tombolas.
Bishop Burton even staged a Go-Go Disco as part of their fundraising efforts.
In all, the nurseries raised more than £400, which we think is a fantastic effort.
Developing literacy skills is vitally important, which is why all of our nurseries took part in National Book Week. Children across all classes talked about their favourite stories and staff and kids alike dressed up as their favourite characters from fiction.
Not only does this help to bring the books to life, the children are taken on a journey of discovery by finding out about other books they might want to read.
They also got to take part in a range of other educational activities. At Willerby we held a science week when pre-schoolers made a ‘Biz Fizz’ by mixing bicarbonate of soda with vinegar. At Hessle, the children learned all about the springtime, with babies getting involved in some spring-related creative activities, the toddlers found out all about baby animals and the pre-schoolers learned about how plants grow.
Mothers’ Day and Other Days
We couldn’t let Mothers’ Day pass unnoticed and wanted to reward some fantastic mums and grandmas. So we invited them in for a pampering session with the children, who made a fuss of them, made Mothers’ Day cards, baked and made crafts to celebrate the special day.
Some of our nurseries also celebrated St David’s Day and St Patrick’s Day, which along with all the other activities, added up to a very busy month. But there’s no time to rest, with April just around the corner it is full steam ahead for both children and staff. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with everything they get up to, but in the meantime, Happy Easter to all our wonderful children and parents!
