We all know that reading is essential to a child’s development, which is why we place so much emphasis on it here at Tiptoes.

Now, all the children in our care will have access to a greater choice of books after our sponsored read raised nearly £1,400.

The money will be spent on new books for all of our nurseries, giving the children an opportunity to learn and refine those all-important literacy skills.

The books will be suited to all ages, ensuring all of the children in our care benefit from access to age-appropriate material.

We hold our annual sponsored read because reading is such an important skill for children to learn. It touches every aspect of their lives for the rest of their lives. That’s why we feel so passionate about making sure the children who attend our nurseries get every opportunity to read and to enjoy books.

Not only does this help them to become strong readers before they even get to school, it will hopefully help them develop a life-long love of reading that can be hard to establish in children who don’t have access to the right kind of books early in their lives.

By raising this money, all the children at Tiptoes will have access to more of the right kind of books.

As well as buying the books, Tiptoes’ owners personally donate 50 per cent of the money raised to a range of charities selected by the different nurseries. This means that this year, they split nearly £700 between Viking FM Cash for Kids, Dementia UK, St Andrews Hospice in Grimsby, Alzheimer’s Society and the Hull and East Yorkshire Baby Unit.

This year’s sponsored read has been a great success with both the children benefiting and a range of great charities, local and national, also receiving donations. We’d like to give a massive thank you to all the parents who supported it.
